Arthur “Archie” Jose Vigil, 71

VALLEY — Longtime Valley resident Arthur “Archie” Jose Vigil, 71, went to be with the Lord Friday, April 10, 2020, at the Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Archie was the 8th child of Adelina and Vidal Vigil, born in La Garita on July 18, 1948. 

He was a Master Plumber and worked in Sacramento, California for 35 years until his retirement.  Archie then moved to the San Luis Valley and worked with his son Melvin as a Plumber for ten more years. 

Archie loved the outdoors and spent many nights camping in the mountains, fishing and hunting.  One of his most favorite things was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.  He adored the new babies that were born into his family.  Archie was a very generous and humble person and was always helping out where needed.  He traveled all around and saw many different places and during his travels, he liked to visit his family.  In his spare time, he could be found visiting Cripple Creek or playing BINGO.

Archie is survived by his children Arthur (Lori) Vigil, Jr. of Monte Vista, Manuel Orlie (Anita) Vigil of Alamosa, Melvin (Christine) Vigil of Alamosa and James (Valentina) Vigil of Pueblo, Colorado; his grandchildren Manuel Vigil, Jr. of Pueblo, CO, Vanessa Mapp of Renton, Washington, Jeremy Vigil of Pueblo, CO, Andreas Vigil and Alyse Vigil, both of Denver, CO, James Vigil, Jr. and Marcella Vigil, both of Sacramento, CA, Mariah (Joshua) Titchener and Brandon Vigil, all of Alamosa; six great-great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Emelda (Berry) Cook of Colorado Springs, CO, Ernestine Trujillo of Yakima, Washington, Raymond Vigil, Barbara Martinez, and Eva Martinez, all of Colorado Springs, CO, Angie Bullard of Las Vegas, Nevada and Arcenio Marquez of Espanola, New Mexico; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Joe Vigil, Sammy Vigil, Bernie Vigil, Leonard Vigil and Arnold Vigil.

Cremation was chosen and a Graveside Service in La Garita will be announced at a later date.
