Alamosa Seniors: Sign up for Branson trip with seniors

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa Senior Citizens will be hitting the road on Saturday, November 11 and heading to fabulous Branson, Missouri for nine days and eight nights! We are taking deposits ($75/person) through the end of August with the final payment ($849/person or $774 if you have already paid the deposit) due by September 4th.

Thursday, August 10th at 11 a.m. Ashley Frost will present a free workshop regarding the San Luis Valley 911 Emergency system. Participants will receive instruction on the registration process and why it is important to do so. San Luis Valley 911 is now working with Everbridge, the worldwide leader in unified critical communications to keep residents, staff and emergency personnel safe and informed with quick and reliable emergency notifications and public service announcements.

Thursday, August 10th at 1 p.m., join Daniel Workman, Master Gun Smith and Fire Arms Instructor for a Concealed Carry & Firearms Training Class. Free for Alamosa Senior Citizen members, $20 for seniors 60 + and $40 for all others. Please call for more information. 

Protect the Skin You’re In! Join Dr. Melissa Voutsalath here at the Senior Center Monday, August 21st @ 11 a.m., for a presentation on skin care. Attend this seminar to ask questions and hear first-hand from Dr. Voutsalath on different types of skin cancer and how to protect your skin.  As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Voutsalath has contributed research to several publications and papers. She received her doctorate at the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 2008 and has worked as a Physician in medical centers, urgent care centers and in the department of dermatology at the University of Michigan.

* Free 5 point ear acupuncture each Tuesday @ 10:30 a.m. for veterans and immediate family.

* Walk to Connect - Thursday, August 17th & 31st @ 10 a.m.

* Dominoes - Fridays @ 12:30 p.m.

* Chair Yoga - Fridays @ 10 a.m.

* Chess club - Thursdays @ 1 p.m.
