‘A Duo of Roots’ workshop set

...

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa Community Greenhouse will host a workshop this Sunday, November 5, at 2 p.m. at 1201 Edison Avenue.

Two distinctive and unique roots will be reviewed: Horseradish and Jerusalem Artichokes. Why are these easy to grow vegetables not more prevalent in our diet?

Horseradish has historically been used to improve digestion and alleviate pain and symptoms of arthritis. Jerusalem Artichokes are plentiful sources of essential minerals such as potassium, iron, copper, molybdenum, and magnesium as well as providing an array of B vitamins.

Roots for planting and eating will be available for a donation to the greenhouse, a non-profit educational gardening facility.
