U-Pick ‘Em Bowl deadline



ALAMOSA — The deadline to get entries to The Valley Courier office for the U-Pick ‘Em Bowl Bonanza is this Friday, Dec. 19. The first Bowl Game in the contest kicks off on Tuesday, Dec. 23.



Fundraiser supper for Kirk Barr Friday



ALAMOSA — In conjunction with the Alamosa High School Holiday Basketball Tournament this coming weekend, there will be a fundraiser supper in the Alamosa High School commons area this Friday, staring at 4 p.m., to help with the medical expenses of Kirk Barr who was badly burned in the house construction explosion at South Fork recently. Kirk Barr is the father of Alamosa Maroons girls’ basketball head coach Brandon Barr. Organizing the supper are Cara Holman (phone 588-1162) and Rochelle Faucette (phone 588-7130). Donations also will be greatly appreciated. Kirk Barr is in a Denver hospital where he already has had two surgeries.



Adult volleyball leagues forming



ALAMOSA — Registration is underway for the Alamosa Parks & Recreation adult coed and women’s volleyball leagues. The cost is $75 per team, plus a $15 participation fee for members of the Alamosa Family Recreation Center and $20 for non-members. All fees are due by Jan. 10, and information concerning each league’s playing schedule is available at the Alamosa Family Recreation Center, phone 589-2105.
