ALAMOSA — Local artists Jim Gilmore and Coni Grant have been chosen to participate in the 12th Annual Art for the Sangres Auction and Sale in Westcliffe, which will be held at the Historic Pine Ranch on September 27 from 3:30 to 7 p.m.
Sculptor Jim Gilmore has participated in hundreds of art shows throughout the United States where he has won many awards such as Best of Show at Safari Club International, Best of Show at the National Wildlife Art Show, and Best of Show at NatureWorks Art Show.
He has been commissioned to sculpt monumental sculptures by many individuals, universities, cities, and organizations including Baylor University, Adams State College, NatureWorks, Sapulpa Oklahoma, and Black Hawk Colorado.
In 2006, Coni Grant received her Masters Degree in Painting from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. She is an active member of Plein Air Artists Colorado (PAAC), Plein Air Painters of New Mexico (PAPNM), a founding member of High Desert Painters, an international plein air group, and Spanish Peaks Arts Council Gallery (SPACe).
Her work is in collections, both public and private, in Atlanta, Alabama, Kansas, New York, Virginia, California, Colorado and Canada.
These two artists are among 27 artists who will exhibit their work and contribute 1/3 of their sales to benefit the San Isabel Land Protection Trust, a non-profit dedicated to protecting open space in the Wet Mountain Valley. The buyer’s preview of art begins at 3:30 p.m. with a reception at 4:30 p.m.
Drawing for the intent-to-purchase sale is at 6:30 p.m.
