San Luis resident Max R. Quintana, 67, died on May 23, 2009. Max was born June 29, 1941 in Los Fuertes, Colorado. He was the oldest son of Porfirio Quintana and Ruben Sanchez Quintana.
Max, long time owner of The Hillside Garage and Body Shop, was affectionately known as "The Boss" by his friends and family. He enjoyed spending time with his boys, flirting with all the girls, playing on his backhoe, hanging out with his two grandsons, and telling stories and jokes to anyone that would listen.
He is survived by five sons Joey Quintana of San Luis; Dale (Deanna) Quintana; grandsons: Dillon, Dale Deen of Chama Canyon; Rick (Janice) Quintana of Romeo, CO; Kelvin Quintana of Pueblo; Ryan (Kristi) Marcus; grandsons: Ashton and Jose of Douglas, WY. Max was also survived by four sisters Nestorita Pacheco of Pueblo; Margarita Quintana of Denver; Mary (Rudy) Samora of Littleton; Debbie Esquibel of Pueblo. Max is also leaving behind many friends.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Henry Quintana and one sister Carmen Quintana.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary was held on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Sangre de Cristo Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on May 26, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Sangre de Cristo Church. Interment will follow at San Isidro Cemetery in Los Fuertes. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Chapel of San Luis.
